Mavericks Take Part in Pacific Coast Invite, Bryan Clay Invite, and Mt. SAC Relays

Long Beach, Calif. --- The #6 ranked Minnesota State women's track & field team competed in the Pacific Coast Invitational Thursday at Long Beach State University.

In the hammer throw, Brea Perron finished ninth with a throw of 189' (57.62m) and is currently ninth in the country. Kaylee Jensen finished 17th with a heave of 171' 1'' (52.15m) and sits 15th in the country in the event. Katie Taylor finished 31st with a toss of 155' 7'' (47.43m).

In the shot put, Taylor placed ninth with a toss of 47' 8'' (14.53m) and is ninth in the NCAA. Perron finished 19th in the event with a distance of 45' 9.25'' (13.95m) and is currently sixth in the country.

Taylor went on to finish 25th in the discus throw with a mark of 143' 4'' (43.70m).

Amanda Montplaisir competed in the 3000m steeplechase in both the Bryan Clay invite and Mt. SAC relays. She set and broke the school record twice. On Wednesday, at the Bryan Clay Invite she placed 20th in the event with a time of 10:43.39 which was a school record and NCAA provisional mark. This afternoon Montplaisir once again broke her school record in the Mt. SAC Relays in the 3000m steeplechase finishing 27th with a school record and NCAA provisional mark of 10:37.62 which is fifth in the country.

The Mavericks return to action tomorrow as they continue competition in the Bryan Clay Invite, Mt. SAC Relays, and the Long Beach Invite.
