HASTINGS, Neb. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team opened its five-dual road trip Sunday evening with a 7-0 sweep over the Hastings College Broncos
With the win, MSU improves to 11-4 on the season. HC owns a 1-3 record.
Minnesota State picked up the first point of the dual as it won all three of the doubles matches. Freshmen
Avery Stilwell and
Taylor Julsrud defeated Theresa Price and Samantha Worthington 6-3 in the No. 1 double match, while freshmen
Elizabeth Felderman and
Brynn Psooy bested Emma Markle and Sasha Richards 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles match. Sophomore
Sarah Johansen and freshman
Hana Minisy added a 6-2 win over Maddie Ketcham and Ayriel Brown-Love in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Mavericks then went on to win all six of the singles matches in straight sets to secure the 7-0 win.
Stilwell defeated Price 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match, while Felderman posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Markle in the No. 2 singles match. Julsrud and Psooy each posted 6-4, 6-3 wins in the No. 3 and No. 4 matches, respectively, while freshman
Lacee Fedeler defeated Ketcham 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 5 singles match. Junior
Kjerstin Hall notched a 6-3, 6-1 win over Brown-Love in the No. 6 single match as well.
Minnesota State continues its road trip this Monday in Kearney, Neb., Nebraska-Kearney. The dual is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m.
