Minnesota State Throwers Participate in Wildcat Outdoor Classic

WAYNE, Neb. --- The Minnesota State women's track field team sent its throwers to take part in the Wildcat Outdoor Classic hosted by Wayne State this weekend.

Senior Brea Perron took home the top spot on the podium today in the shot put with a throw of 48' 9'' (14.87m) which is a NCAA provisional mark surpassing 13.99m. Sophomore Madeline Fretag finished inside the top-ten with a ninth-place finish with a distance of 40' 0.75'' (12.21m).

Fretag followed up her ninth-place finish with a runner up finish in the discus setting a NCAA provisional mark with a throw of 150' 9'' (45.94m). Freshman Kaitlyn Schroeder finished in the top-ten with a seventh-place finish with a toss of 136' 5'' (41.58m).

In the hammer throw, three Mavericks finished in the top-ten with Perron leading the way with a fourth-place finish and NCAA provisional mark of 178' 10'' (54.51m). Senior Kaylee Jensen finished fifth with a NCAA provisional mark of 177' 04'' (54.05m). Junior Abbi Stafslien-Dumale finished seventh with a throw of 160' 6'' (48.93m).

In the javelin throw, sophomore Samantha Sunnarborg finished second with a toss of 114' (34.76m).

Minnesota State returns to action on Saturday April 2, as they travel to Kearney, Neb., to take part in the Central Nebraska Challenge.
