ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team swept Northwestern College (Iowa) 7-0 Friday evening in St. Peter, Minn.
With the win, MSU improves to 6-2 overall and 1-0 during the spring season. With the loss, the Red Raiders drop to 3-1.
The Mavericks opened the dual winning all three of the doubles matches to secure the dual's first point. The duo of
Tristen Bryant-Otake and
Hana Minisy won the No. 1 doubles match 6-3, while
Elizabeth Felderman and
Brynn Psooy won the No. 2 doubles match 6-1. The duo of
Lacee Fedeler and
Kjerstin Hall won the No. 3 doubles match 6-0 also.
MSU then went on to win all six of the singles matches to complete the 7-0 sweep.
Bryant-Otake bested Julia Kutz 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match, while Felderman bested Julia Anderson 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles match. Minisy posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wynne Vandersall in the No. 3 singles match, while Psooy bested Ainslie Robinson 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match. Fedeler shutout Jessica Wilson 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles match, while Hall added a 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 6 singles match.
Minnesota State opens its NSIC schedule on Saturday, Feb. 12, as it takes on Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston in Owatonna, Minn. The duals are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
