ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Winona State at home Saturday morning at the Swanson Tennis Center.
With the loss, MSU falls to 9-4 on the season, including a 3-2 NSIC record. With the win, WSU improves to 5-2, including a 4-1 conference record.
The Warriors won two of the three doubles matches to secure the dual's first point. The duo of freshmen
Avery Stilwell and
Lacee Fedeler defeated Brooke Holloway and Brooke Jorgensen 6-2 in the No. 3 doubles match for MSU's only win in the doubles matches.
Winona State then went on to win five of the six singles matches to secure the 6-1 win. Felderman recorded the lone win for the Mavericks as she defeated Rina Niehoff in three sets by the scores of 2-6, 6-3, 10-5.
Minnesota State continues its season at home on Sunday as it takes on the Upper Iowa Peacocks. The dual is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minn.
