OWATONNA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team suffered its first NSIC loss of the season Sunday afternoon as it fell to #16 Augustana 7-0
With the loss, MSU falls to 9-3 on the season, including a 3-1 NSIC record. With the win, AU improves to 7-0, including a 4-0 conference record.
The Vikings won all three of the doubles matches to secure the first point of the dual. Junior
Tristen Bryant-Otake and freshman
Avery Stilwell fell to Valeriya Monko and Flore Hadjigeorgiou 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles match, while freshmen
Elizabeth Felderman and
Brynn Psooy dropped a 6-4 match to Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson in the No. 3 doubles match.
AU then won all six of the singles matches to secure the 7-0 win. Bryant-Otake battled into the third set against Monko in the No. 1 singles match, but Monko was able to come away with the 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 win. The Vikings won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday as it host the Winona State Warriors in St. Peter, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
