OWATONNA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team kept things rolling Saturday evening as the Mavericks bested Sioux Falls 5-2.
With the win, MSU improves to 9-2 on the season, including a 3-0 NSIC record. With the loss, USF drops to 3-1, including a 2-1 conference record.
MSU began the day winning two of the doubles matches to secure the dual's first point. The duo of junior
Tristen Bryant-Otake and freshman
Avery Stilwell defeated Peyton Forney and Talia Janos 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles match, while the team of freshmen
Brynn Psooy and
Elizabeth Felderman bested Emily Thinnsen and Katelyn Nesheim 6-2 in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Mavericks then won four of the six singles matches to secure the 5-2 win. Bryant-Otake won the No. 1 singles match 6-0, with her opponent Megan Quandt retiring in the second set. Stilwell won the No. 2 singles match 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 against Janos, while Felderman defeated Danielle Thorfinnson 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match. Freshman
Hana Minisy won the No. 4 singles match vs. Joelle Thorfinnson 6-1, 6-2 as well.
Minnesota State continues its season on Sunday as it takes on the Augustana Vikings. The dual is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., in Owatonna, Minn.
