#1 Minnesota State Dominates Field in NSIC & Friends Indoor Challenge

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's track & field team hosted the NSIC & Friends Indoor Challenge Saturday in Myers Field House. The #1 ranked Mavericks were the class of the field as they outscored the second-place team, Concordia-St. Paul, by more than 200-points on en-route to their sixth consecutive victory accumulating 281.5-points.

Caitlyn Jones took home the win in the 60m dash with an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 7.66. In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Denisha Cartwrighttook home the top spot with NCAA Division II provisional mark with a time of 8.49, which is fourth in the country.

The 200m dash saw sophomore Makayla Jackson take home the victory with a NCAA provisional mark of 24.98. Minnesota State finished one, two, three with Sherona Stewart taking the top spot with a time of 58.61.

Marissa Ellenbecker finished second in the 800m dash with a mark of 2:221.83. In the mile, Amanda Montplaisir earned the win with a time of 5:01.94. Ashlin Young placed third in the 3000m with a time of 11:05.30.

The Mavericks 4 x 400 relay team (Rose Gaye, Denisha Cartwright, Rose Cramer, Sherona Stewart) finished second with a NCAA Division II provisional time of 3:49.59, which is seventh in the nation.

Zoe Stone took home second place in the high jump with a leap of 1.69m (5' 6.5''). The Mavericks took home the top three spots in the pole vault with Christine Dennison claiming victory with a NCAA Division II provisional mark of 3.69m (12' 1.25''). Mariah Williams was victorious in the long jump with a distance of 5.62m (18' 5.25''). Freshman Stella Neophytou earned the win in the triple jump with a NCAA Division II provisional mark of 11.98m (39' 3.75'').

Katie Taylor took home the top spot in both the shot put and weight throw with a distance of 14.62m (47' 11.75'') and 19.17m (62' 10.75''), respectively. Taylor ranks ninth and second nationally in these events.

The Mavericks return to action next Friday Feb. 18 in Mankato, Minn. As the Mavericks host the Maverick Invitational in Myers Field House.
