ST. CLOUD, Minn. --- Minnesota State picked up its third straight win Tuesday evening as it bested St. Cloud State 87-80 on the road.
With the win, MSU improves to 13-6, while SCSU drops to 9-12.
The first half saw the Huskies lead throughout as they led by as many as 15 points. SCSU built its largest lead of the half at 25-10 with 11:42 to go. Over the next seven minutes, the Mavericks would go on a 14-3 run, with four baskets from junior 
Kelby Kramer, to cut SCSU's lead to four at 28-24 with 3:53 to go in the half.
The Huskies managed to go back up by nine points late in the half, but MSU would get back to within two points of SCSU twice in the closing minutes. A last second basket from SCSU's Caleb Donaldson would give St. Cloud State a 38-34 lead as both teams went into the locker room.
Kramer and freshman 
Tyrell Stuttley led the Mavericks in the first half with eight points each. Sophomore 
Quincy Anderson added six points and nine rebounds also.
Donaldson led all scorers in the first half with 11 points, while Matthew Willert and Luke Taylor each netted eight points.
The second half saw the Huskies maintain their lead early on. SCSU would lead by as many as eight points early on in the second half, but the Mavericks would keep the pressure up. Trailing 54-50 with 12:27 to go, MSU would go on a 7-0 run, with all seven points coming from freshman 
Kyreese Willingham, to take its first lead of the game at 57-54 with 11:33 to go.
The Mavericks would eventually build a nine-point lead at 73-64 with 5:43 to go, but the Huskies were able to get back within one point of the Mavericks on two occasions in the final minute. A layup from 
Kyreese Willingham and a pair of free throws from 
Malik Willingham, Anderson and junior 
Devonte Thedford in the closing seconds would lock down the 87-80 win for the Mavericks. 
Five Mavericks scored at least 12 points against the Huskies, including 
Malik Willingham and Kramer who each netted 15 points. Anderson recorded his fifth career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Stuttley added 13 points, while 
Kyreese Willingham finished with 12 points.
As a team, MSU shot 47.9% from the field. The Mavericks also enjoyed a 47-33 advantage in rebounds.
SCSU was led by Willert, who finished with 20 points, and Taylor who notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Huskies shot 45.1% from the field.
Minnesota State continues its season on the road this Friday as it takes on the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
