Mankato, Minn. --- #6 Minnesota State collected its seven consecutive win and third NSIC win on the season with an 83-54 home win against Upper Iowa.
With the win, MSU improves to 7-0 (3-0 NSIC), while UIU drops to 4-4 (0-3 NSIC) on the season.
The Mavericks never trailed in the game and stepped the gas pedal early on as they led the Peacocks by 13 points and closed the first quarter 22-9.
Eight different Mavericks scored in the first half and freshman
Natalie Bremer's 13 points in the first half helped the Mavericks to a 44-27 lead, while sophomore
Destinee Bursch netted nine points.
The Mavericks outscored the Peacocks 24-13 in the third quarter shooting .400 in three-pointers. In the last quarter MSU would attain the largest lead of the game by 33 points, before closing the game with an 83-54 win.
Bursch, who shot at .500 from the field, led the Mavericks with 23 points and five rebounds.
Bremer netted 19 points and added six rebounds also. Junior
Joey Batt scored 13 points and hauled in six rebounds as well.
As a unit, Minnesota State shot 40.7% from the field and scored 34 points off turnovers. They also passed out 14 assists and recorded 51 rebounds and 17 steals.
Minnesota State continues its season at home this Friday hosting Augustana at Taylor Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
