East Meadow, N,Y. --- The Minnesota State women's wrapped up its two-game series at Long Island University with a 5-1 victory over the Sharks in nonconference action Saturday afternoon. The road sweep marked the first for Minnesota State since September 24-25th, 2021 against Merrimack.
Sydney Shearen lit the lamp first for the Mavericks, sneaking one past he LIU goaltender for her second goal of the year midway through the first.
Sydney Langseth added the game's second goal 86 seconds later blasting a one-timer from
Kennedy Bobyck.
Kelsey King registered her fifth goal of the weekend at 17:41 to push the Mavericks to a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Stella Scott found the net for Long Island early in the period to trim the Maverick advantage to 3-1. The Mavericks special teams took advantage of a five-minute major and game misconduct as
Alexis Paddington hammered home a goal 16:02 of the second. Paddington added her second goal of the afternoon with 46 seconds remaining in the game to round out the scoring.

Alexa Berg picked up her fifth win of the season as she turned away 25 of the 26 shots she faced.
Minnesota State is back in action on January 6th as they travel south to take on Lindenwood, Jan. 6th and 7th.
