Minnesota State Extends Winning Streak to Six with 88-69 win at Winona State Thursday

Winona, Minn. --- Rated #6 in this week's national poll, Minnesota State collected its six consecutive win and the second NSIC win on the season with an 88-69 league road win at Winona State Thursday.

With the win, MSU improves to 6-0 (2-0 NSIC), while WSU drops to 7-1 (1-1 NSIC) on the season.

The Mavericks, who never trailed in the game, finished the first quarter owning a 26-15 lead over the Warriors.

Freshman Natalie Bremer's 15 points in the first half helped the visiting Mavericks to a 53-40 lead, while junior Taylor Theusch netted 14 points, shooting four out of seven three-pointers.

The Warriors outscored the Mavericks 14-5 at the start of the third quarter in cutting the Minnesota State lead to seven points (61-54) but MSU rallied and owned a 65-54 advantage at the end of the third period.

Junior guard Joey Batt netted eight points in the fourth quarter as the Mavericks pulled away for the 88-69 win.

Bremer, who was eight-of-13 from the field, finished with a career-high 21 points in the game. Junior Joey Batt racked up 21 points, pulled in two rebounds and finished the game with two steals. Theusch scored a career-high 20 points and made six three-pointers in 13 attempts.   Sophomore Destinee Bursch scored 14 points, and had three rebounds, and four assists. 

As a unit, Minnesota State shot 43.5% from the field and scored 20 points off turnovers. They also passed out 13 assists and recorded 28 rebounds and 10 steals. 
 

Minnesota State continues its season at home this Saturday hosting Upper Iowa at Taylor Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
