BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- Minnesota State junior
Malik Willingham has been named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week for his efforts in MSU's two wins over Missouri Southern and Henderson State last weekend.
A guard from Waseca, Minn., Willingham averaged a team-leading 22.0 points and 6.0 assists last weekend, while also averaging 7.5 rebounds a game. Willingham also shot 45.2% from the field and recorded a team-leading five steals. Against Henderson State, Willingham netted a career-high 25 points, to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
This is the first time in his career that Willingham has been named NSIC South Division Player of the Week. The last Maverick to receive the award was Quincy Anderson back on Dec. 6, 2021.
Minnesota State continues its season on the road this Tuesday as it takes on St. Cloud State in a nonconference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
