Mankato, Minn.--- The Mavericks came into today's game looking for their first win on the season. MSU has fallen victim to three straight one-goal deficits and looked to break that streak.

The Bulldogs picked up where they left off last night starting with fast and physical play that looked to catch the Mavericks off guard early.

Duluth's Taylor Anderson displayed her speed catching the Mavericks on a change take advantage of her breakaway to put the UMD up by one at the 4:57 mark of the first period.

Just 31 seconds later, The Bulldogs display their physicality as Gabby Krause pounds home a rebound to stun the Mavericks who had fallen behind 2-0. MSU would lock down defensively putting a stop to UMD's offensive onslaught in the first period.

The Mavericks had their chances in the second period with two power-play opportunities but fail to capitalize on the man-advantage which is a critical factor to MSU's success.

After a rough start, Alexa Berg found her footing in the second and third period as she stopped 38 shots during the contest.

The Mavericks are back in action at home next Friday to face Minnesota at 3:00 p.m.
