Mankato, Minn.--- With a Mavericks victory this after at the The Pitch, MSU officially clinches home field advantage for the first round of the NSIC playoffs.
Minnesota State again shot out of the gate with speed and physicality peppering the USF goalkeeper with one of the most impressive shot margins in program history with 37-8 in favor of Minnesota State.
The Speedster
Nadia Lowery drove past the USF defense early in the first half finding
Brynn Desens in the box at the 6' mark of the match whose shot found the net to give the MSU the early lead. MSU brought constant pressure resulting in most of the action happening in the Sioux Falls defensive zone.
Just 10 minutes after her first goal, Desens finds the rebound of an
Allie Williams shot to put home her second of the day in the 16th minute give the Mavericks a two-goal lead.
Coming into the half, MSU played its starters conservatively as most got few minutes in the second half. Coming off the bench,
Mallie Mathis and
Allie Williams led the charge for the Mavericks playing leader roles for a young MSU team.
At the 69' mark,
Mallie Mathis redirects a Williams shot slipping by the USF goalkeeper giving the Mavericks a commanding three goal cushion.
Minnesota State will have a quick turn-around as it hits the road for a matchup with SMSU on Sunday for a 1:00p.m. start.
