BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's basketball team has been picked to finish seventh in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Mavericks received a total of 145 points for the seventh spot. Minnesota Duluth topped the poll with 13 first-place votes and 222 points, with MSU Moorhead following in second with 206 points. Wayne State rounded out the top-three with 197 points.
MSU was picked to finish third in the south division poll with 34 points. Wayne State topped the south division poll with 49 points and was followed by Upper Iowa in second with 39 points.
Sophomore
Brady Williams was named MSU's Player to Watch. Last season, Williams averaged 12.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 51.2% from the field. He recorded a pair of double-doubles, to go along with a season-high 21 points against Augustana (2/12/22) which included a 5-of-6 showing from three point range.
Minnesota State hosts an exhibition game against Gustavus Adolphus on Thursday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m., at Taylor Center. The Mavericks open their regular season schedule on Friday, November 11, as they take on Missouri Southern in the Central Region Challenge in Kansas City, Mo. Tip-off between the Mavericks and the Lions is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
