WINONA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to Upper Iowa Sunday in Winona, Minn.
MSU now owns a 2-12 overall record, including a 1-8 NSIC record. UIU improves to 2-8 on the season, including a 2-5 NSIC record
The Peacocks claimed the first point of the dual as they won all three of the doubles matches. Sophomore
Kjerstin Hall and
Lauren Goth put up the best effort in the No. 2 doubles match but they fell to Lina Ziani and Varvara Ogorodnikova by the score of 7-5.
The Mavericks managed to win two of the singles matches, but Upper Iowa was able to win the other four in straight sets to lock down the 5-2 win. Freshman
Abigail Clayton defeated Mya Herrmann 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 singles match, while freshman
Sarah Johansen tallied a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 6 singles match vs. Elaina Wall.
Minnesota State returns to action on Saturday, April 10, as it takes on MSU Moorhead in Owatonna, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
