#25 Mavericks Fall to Augustana on Road

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- #25 Minnesota State struggled on the road Friday evening as it fell to Augustana 83-50.

With the loss, MSU drops to 7-2 on the season, including a 2-2 NSIC record. With the win, AU improves to 9-1, including a 3-2 NSIC record.

The first two minutes saw the Mavericks jump out to a quick 7-2 lead as three different Mavericks recorded a basket. The Vikings would respond with a 16-8 run over the next eight minutes to go up 18-15 with 9:54 to go in the half.

MSU would manage to reclaim the lead at 22-20 with after a three pointer from sophomore Quincy Anderson with 7:23 to go in the half, but Augustana would finish the first half on a 21-5 run to take a 41-27 lead into the locker room.

Anderson led the Maverick offense in the first half with eight points, while junior Devonte Thedford tallied seven. As a team, MSU shot 34.4% from the field in the opening stanza.

Tyler Riemersma led the Vikings in the first half with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Isaac Fink notched nine points of his own. As a team, AU shot 62.1% from the field in the first half.

The second half saw Augustana maintain its double-digit lead throughout as the Vikings led by as many as 38 points, en route to topping the Mavericks 83-50.

Anderson led the Mavericks with 13 points and six rebounds, while Thedford finished with nine points. Junior Kelby Kramer hauled in a team-best seven rebounds also.

As a team, MSU shot 31.3% from the field. The Mavericks also hauled in 33 rebounds.

Riemersma led all scorers with 23 points, to go along with 13 rebounds. Fink and Adam Dykman each netted 12 points as well.

As a team, AU shot 54.2% from the field, including a 9-of-20 (.450) showing from three point range.

Minnesota State wraps up its road trip this Saturday as it takes on the Wayne State Wildcats. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
