DES MOINES, Iowa --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule Sunday as it defeated Grand View 6-1 and Iowa Central CC 7-0.
With its two wins, MSU improves to 5-2 on the season in dual action.
The Mavericks began the day with a 6-1 win over the Grad View Vikings. MSU won all three of the doubles matches to secure the first point of the dual. Junior
Tristen Bryant-Otake and freshman
Avery Stilwell tallied a 6-1 win in the No. 1 doubles match, while freshmen
Elizabeth Felderman and
Grace Ackerman tallied a 6-1 win in the No. 3 doubles match. Freshmen
Taylor Julsrud and
Hana Minisy tallied a 6-2 win in the No. 2 doubles match also.
Minnesota State went on to win five of the six singles matches to secure the 6-1 win. Bryant-Otake defeated Sonya Ordinteva 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match, while Felderman bested Fredrika Kuttenkeuler 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles match. Minisy added a 6-2, 6-2 win over Meagan Miller in the No. 4 singles match also, while Julsrud topped Paige Adams 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 5 singles match. Freshman
Brynn Psooy posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Elizaveta Ordinteva in the No. 6 singles match as well.
Minnesota State finished the day with a 7-0 sweep over Iowa Central CC.
The Mavericks won two of the three doubles match to secure the first point of the dual against the Tritons. Minisy and Julsrud defeated Antonia Ilea and Lubelihle Moyo 6-4 in the No. 2 doubles match, while Felderman and Ackerman topped Tricia Veldhuizen and Makenna Schaffner 6-1 in the No. 3 doubles match.
Minnesota State would go on to win all six singles matches to complete the 7-0 sweep. Bryant-Otake bested Beladova 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match, while Stilwell posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Semery in the No. 2 singles match. Felderman, Minisy and Julsrud would go on to post 6-0, 6-0 wins in the No. 3-5 singles matches, before Ackerman bested Schaffner 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles match.
