MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team fell short in another one-goal decision against #1 Wisconsin 1-0, Sunday.

Minnesota State (2-7-1, 2-7-1 WCHA) and #1 Wisconsin (3-1-0, 3-1-0 WCHA) played a tight game that saw two scoreless first periods at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. It was thanks to MSU's goaltender, Calla Frank, who stopped 37-of-38 shots she faced to keep the Mavericks in the game from start to finish. 

After two periods, the Badgers held the shot advantage 29-20 over the Mavericks as both sides headed into the second intermission scoreless.

In the third period at the 5:52 mark, Badgers' senior forward Brette Pettet scored the game-winning goal by netting a rebound in the slot following a blocked shot that was delivered by Darryl Watts. For the second straight night, the game went on to end in a one-goal deficit as the Badgers came out on top, 1-0.

UW claimed the shots advantage 38-21. Frank, now 1-5-1, made a season-high 37 saves in the game. Opposing netminder Kennedy Blair, now 3-1-0, recorded her second shutout of the season by stopping all 21 shots she faced.

Both sides were perfect on the penalty kill. MSU held UW scoreless on eight opportunities while UW's special teams kept MSU off the board in each of its four chances.

Next week, Minnesota State travels to Bemidji State for its first road contests of the new year, Friday and Saturday.
