DULUTH, Minn. --- It proved to be a close dual in Duluth, Minn., Sunday afternoon but Minnesota State fell to St. Cloud State 4-3.
With the loss, the Mavericks drop to 1-4 on the season, including a 0-4 NSIC record. With the win, SCSU improves to 2-3 on the season, including a 2-3 conference record.
St. Cloud State claimed the dual's first point as it swept the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Senior

Tyanna Washa dropped a 6-1 decision to Olivia Fredrickson and Jill Kedrowski in the No. 1 doubles match, while sophomores
Kjerstin Hall and
Sarah Johansen fell to Abby Scheck and Katherine Muntifering 6-1 in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Mavericks nearly pulled off the comeback in the singles matches, but they were only able to win three of the six singles matches as SCSU held on for the 4-3 win.
Ryan bested Mirei Ichida 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match, while sophomore
Lauren Goth claimed a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win over Fredrickson in the No. 4 singles match. Johansen claimed a 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 6 singles match over Muntifering also. Washa fell to Kedrowski 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match
Minnesota State returns to action on Saturday as it takes on Minnesota Crookston in Owatonna, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
