Kansas City, Mo. --- Minnesota State made a 22 spot jump from No. 25 to No. 3 in the second edition of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, as announced by officials Tuesday afternoon.
The big jump comes after a successful weekend at The Pitch when the Mavericks shutout then-No. 4 Central Missouri and then-No. 1 Grand Valley State 2-0 and 1-0, respectively. After their losses, the Jennies dropped four spots to No. 8 and the Lakers dropped three spots to No. 4.
Bemidji State is the only other NSIC school to be represented in the poll as it dropped from No. 18 to receiving votes after losing 2-0 to GVSU and 1-0 (OT) to UCM over the weekend in Mankato, Minn.
Minnesota State (3-0-0) will now begin conference play on the road for two matches on Friday and Sunday. The Mavericks will travel to Winona, Minn., to play Winona State at 6:00 p.m., on Friday and then will turn to face Upper Iowa on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., in Fayette, Iowa.
