Kissimmee, Fla. --- Minnesota State topped UT-Tyler 1-0 with a single run in the fourth inning giving the Mavericks the win Friday afternoon in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Mavericks (3-1) won the pitchers duel over the Patriots (5-5) to win the first of eight games on the Florida trip. Senior right-fielder
Jordan Hart drove in the run for the Mavericks on a double. Senior catcher
Tom Imholte scored the run after getting on by way of a bunt base hit.
Junior right-hander
Jon Ludwig has a 15 scoreless inning streak going to open the season for the Mavericks after going eight innings today. Ludwig collected nine strikeouts, while allowing three hits and no walks.
Junior second baseman
Teddy Petersen was the only other Maverick to collect a hit. Imholte and senior third baseman
Tory Miller stole a base in the game.
Ludwig (2-0) picked up the win for the Mavericks and sophomore right-hander
Jimmy Larson earned his second save on the season, while striking out two batters. Junior right-hander
Keith Long (1-1) was handed the loss for the Patriots gave up one run on three hits, while issuing one walk and striking out four.
Minnesota State (3-1) will take on Walsh (Ohio) tomorrow starting at 6:00 p.m., EST in Kissimmee, Fla.
