Mankato, Minn. --- The No. 19 Minnesota State soccer team will play Augustana and Wayne State in the second to last regular season weekend. The Mavericks will first host Augustana at The Pitch, with the match beginning at 2:00 p.m., Friday. Then MSU will head to Wayne, Neb., to face Wayne State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., in the last regular season road match.
Looking Back at Last Week: The Mavericks swept last weekend's road matches and now have a record of 13-2-0 (10-2-0 NSIC), good for third place in the conference standings. MSU defeated Northern State 2-1 in double overtime and then shutout MSU Moorhead 3-0.

In the first match, Northern State senior
Shianne Rosselli put away the penalty kick for a 1-0 advantage after the Mavericks committed a hand ball in the box for a yellow card in the first half. The Mavericks scored 38 seconds into the second half to tie the match up 1-1 after sophomore
Jenny Vetter took the ball from midfield at the start of the half, drove through the Wolves' defense and then fed freshman
Allie Williams. The first overtime went scoreless, but MSU came through in the second overtime session for the win. Vetter gathered a through ball from sophomore
Nadia Lowery and then chipped the ball up over the sliding goalkeeper for the 2-1 win.
In the second match, the Mavericks jumped on top in the 30th minute after a foul was called on the Dragons with junior
Molly Riley feeding Vetter who beat the goalkeeper to the low right corner. Senior
Bri Ciaccio headed in her the second goal off a corner kick from sophomore
Brynn Desens in the 61st minute. The final goal came off the foot of Williams on a penalty kick because of a Dragon foul in the box in the 75th minute for the 3-0 victory.
Senior
Alexa Rabune (11-1) gained both wins on the weekend and picked up her sixth solo shutout of the season against MSU Moorhead, grabbing eight saves in the two matches.Â
Making History: Jenny Vetter scored two more game-winning goals over the weekend to up her total to eight on the season. Those eight game winners are the most in all of NCAA DII so far this season. Also, Vetter is now tied for the most game-winning goals in a season at MSU and is tied for eighth all-time in school history. Vetter also sits in ninth in NCAA DII with her 35 points on the season and in 13th with the 14 goals so far.

Fantastic Freshman: Allie Williams scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season over the weekend against NSU and MSUM. The nine goals and three assists moves Williams' point total to 21 in the season, which is tied eighth most in a single season by a freshman.
Photo Finish: The fight for the NSIC regular season crown is coming down to the wire with three matches remaining as Concordia-St. Paul, Augustana and Minnesota State are all separated by only two points.Â
Scouting Augustana: The Vikings have a 12-2-1 (10-1-1 NSIC) record in the 2019 season, sitting in second in the conference. Last weekend, Augie defeated Minnesota Crookston 3-0 and was beaten by Bemidji State 2-1 in overtime.
Seniors
Claire Dahm and
Grace Behm both have 13 points with six goals and an assist this season to lead Augie. Sophomore
Claudia Pueschner has made all 15 starts so far this season going 12-2-1 record with a 0.67 goals-against average, .888 save percentage, 71 saves and eight shutouts.Â
Facing Augustana: The Mavericks have a 25-2-0 record against the Vikings all-time. MSU won the regular season meeting 2-0 and the conference tournament matchup 3-0 last season.
Scouting Wayne State: The Wildcats have a 6-5-4 (6-4-2 NSIC) record in the 2019 season and sit seventh in the conference. Last weekend WSC was defeated by Bemidji State 3-0 and then turned around and beat Minnesota Crookston 2-0.
Senior
Sophie Ketchmark leads the Wildcats in points on the season with seven by having two goals and three assists. Senior
Rachel Grisham has started all 15 matches for Wayne State, going 6-5-4 with a 1.04 goals-against average, .746 save percentage, 47 saves and six shutouts.
Facing Wayne State: The Mavericks have an undefeated 14-0-0 record against the Wildcats all-time. Minnesota State won the match last season against Wayne State 3-1 in Mankato, Minn.
Looking Ahead: The Mavericks will wrap up the regular season with a single match next weekend. Minnesota State with play Concordia-St. Paul on Nov. 8 with the match starting at 2:00 p.m., at The Pitch. This will also be Senior Day for the Mavericks 10 graduating seniors.
