WAVERLY, Iowa --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2018-19 season with an 8-1 loss to Wartburg College.
With the loss, MSU falls to 0-1 on the season, while the Knights improve to 3-0.
Wartburg swept the three doubles matches, including a forfeit in the No. 3 doubles match. The duo of junior

Lauren Goth lost to Ashley Rottinghaus and Hannah Fox 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match.
The Mavericks managed to win just one of the six singles matches as Wartburg closed out the 8-1 win. Ryan won the only match for the Mavericks as she bested Rottinghaus 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match. The Knights won four of the singles matches in straight sets and the No. 6 singles match by forfeit.
Minnesota State continues the fall portion of its schedule on Thursday, Oct. 4, as it hosts St. Olaf at 3:30 p.m.
