Burnsville, Minn.--- Abby Hausken has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by conference officials on Tuesday.  

Hausken, a senior defender, earned the honor after playing 62 minutes in No. 13 Minnesota State's 4-0 shutout win over Sioux Falls last week. Hausken was a part of the Mavericks defense that held the Cougars to two total shots with one being on goal. She also contributed an assist that led to a goal by senior forward Julia Zach in the first half of play.

It is the second time of her career that Hausken has been named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week. 

Minnesota State continues its season the week facing off against the Florida Tech Panthers in Mankato, Minn. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 5:00 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 9, the Mavericks will hit the road taking on the #1 Central Missouri Mules in Warrensburg, Mo. at 1:00 p.m.
