MINNETONKA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis resumed NSIC action with a 6-3 loss to Minnesota Duluth Saturday evening.
With the loss, MSU falls to 3-11, including a 2-5 NSIC record. With the win, UMD improves to 6-3, including a 4-3 NSIC record.
The Mavericks began the dual winning one of the three doubles matches. The duo of junior
Valerie Bresnahan and freshman
Tyanna Washa bested Isabel Thinner and Jillian Klasen by the score of 8-6 in the No. 3 doubles match.
In singles competition the Mavericks managed to win a pair of matches but they would get no closer to the Bulldogs as Minnesota Duluth was able to lock down the 6-3 win. Junior
Erin Streeter earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Shelby Benkofske in the No. 1 singles match, while freshman
Madeline Muotka defeated Arielle Emerson 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles match. Sophomore
Monika Ryan forced a deciding third set in the No. 2 singles match but she fell to Megan Anderson by the scores of 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Minnesota State concludes its weekend on Sunday as it takes on St. Cloud State in Fridley, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
