SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team began NSIC competition with a 6-3 loss to the Sioux Falls Cougars on the road Friday evening.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 1-3, including a 0-1 NSIC record. With the win, USF improves to 3-0, including 1-0 in conference record.
MSU began the dual winning one of the three doubles matches. The duo of seniors
Kylie DeWees and
Nina Riesselman topped Lexi Miller and Joelle Thorfinnson by the score of 8-5 in the No. 2 doubles match.
USF was able to lock down its 6-3 victory as it won four of the six singles matches. Sophomore
Monika Ryan won the No. 2 singles match as she defeated Megan Quandt by the scores of 6-2, 6-3, while freshman
Madeline Muotka bested Cortney McCans 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles match.
Minnesota State wraps up its weekend on Saturday as it takes on the Augustana Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
