Box Score Cedar Falls, Iowa --- In their last game before winter break, the Minnesota State Women's Basketball team (5-4, 2-3 NSIC) lost an exhibition game against the Northern Iowa Panthers (5-4) by a final score of 73-56.  The game being exhibition for the Mavericks means that the loss will not affect the team's record.

Throughout the matchup, the Mavericks kept the game within striking distance against the Division I Panthers, and at halftime they only trailed Northern Iowa 35-26.  

A strong third quarter, sparked by Taylor Drost, put the Mavericks down only one point going into the fourth quarter.  Ultimately though, the Panthers were able to pull away in the final frame, ultimately coming away with the 73-56 win.

Drost led the Mavericks in scoring netting 20 points, hitting 9-13 shots from the floor.  Center Kristi Fett led Minnesota State in rebounds with ten on the game and finished with six points of her own.

The Mavericks will now enjoy a small break before returning to action Sunday, Dec. 30 at Concordia-St. Paul, at 2:p.m.
