Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks Volleyball team (13-6, 6-5 NSIC) defeated the University of Mary Marauders 3-16, 0-11 NSIC) Saturday afternoon at Taylor Center, by a score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, and 25-15).

In the first set, it was all Minnesota State as they took it by a score of 25-18. The Mavericks got hot early with a 7-0 run that led to a 9-1 lead. Using the early momentum, Minnesota State never allowed U-Mary within five points.
Alivia Garbe led the Mavericks in the first set with three kills and three digs.

The second set once again, went the way of the Mavericks by a score of 25-22. It saw the Mavericks up 6-2 to get started before U-Mary could even it up at 7 and eventually get out to a 16-11 lead. However, Minnesota State battled back to even it up at 17 and then continued to fight their way to a 22-21 lead and the start of a 4-0 run that would help to clinch the set.
Morgan Olson recorded five kills in the set, upping her total to eight in the match.

An early 4-0 run propelled Minnesota State to an early 6-1 lead. Shortly after that, the Mavericks amounted two more 3-0 runs and got their lead up to 15-9. From there, the Mavericks cruised to a 25-15 victory by winning the third and final set.
Olson led all players with 15 kills on the match with a .519 attack percentage.Â
Micayla Porter led the Mavericks in assists with 22 for the match and added two service aces.

Next week the Mavericks will travel to face Concordia-St. Paul Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. before taking on Minnesota Crookston in Crookston, Minn., Friday Oct. 12
th at 6:00 p.m., and wrapping up the week at Bemidji State, Saturday, at 1:00 p.m.
