Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Maverick Volleyball team (12-6, 5-5 NSIC) defeated the Minot State Beavers (9-10, 3-7 NSIC) Friday night at Taylor Center, by a score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-13).

The first set saw Minnesota State got out to an early 7-3 lead Minot State wouldn't go down without a fight, rallying back to a 9-9 tie. From there, the Mavericks and Beavers went back and forth before Minnesota State went on a 4-0 run to push the lead 24-18. The Mavericks ended up taking the set 25-19.
Lauren Lowry helped the Mavericks with two aces and 6 assists.

In the second set, it was all Minot State to get started. The Beavers started the set on a 6-0 run before the Mavericks could answer back with a point of their own. Much like the Beavers in the first set, the Mavericks, with their backs against the wall, rallied back to even up at nine points a side. From that point on, both teams played side by side through 10 different tied scores.
Lauren Lowry amassed 11 digs and five kills by the end of the second set, giving the Mavericks the winning edge.

In the third set, it was all Mavericks to clinch the match win. Minnesota State piled on four 3-0 runs and a 5-0 run spanning over the course of the entire set to lock in a 25-13 win what proved to be the final set.
Ashton Lee helped Minnesota State out both offensively with 11 kills, as well as defensively with three blocks.
Lee earned 11 kills and a .526 attacking percentage to go along with three blocks.Â
Ashton Lee led the Mavericks with 25 assists and
Mara Quam was the leader in digs with 21.

Tomorrow afternoon the Mavericks will face off against the University of Mary Marauders (3-14, 0-9 NSIC) at 2:00 p.m., at Taylor Center
