VERMILLION, S.D. --- Minnesota State won a pair of events Friday evening in its season opener against the University of South Dakota.
USD defeated MSU by the score of 194-102.
Sophomore
Lily Borgenheimer won both the 100 breaststroke (1:13.77) and the 200 breaststroke (2:39.30). Borgenheimer also finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:26.36.
Junior
Maggie Knier turned in a pair of second place finishes in the 50 freestyle (.27.69) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.85). Sophomore
Emily Bollendorf also finished second in a pair of events including the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:33.30 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.97. Sophomore
Emelia Selky also took second in the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:46.97.
Senior
Hannah Gosen turned in a fourth place finish in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 194.35 and a second place finish in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 186.75.
Minnesota State also posted second place finishes in both relay events. The quartet of freshman

Katie Streiff and Knier turned in a time of 2:01.06 in the 200 medley relay event, while the team of Knier, junior
Jace Hanson, Jordan and Streiff posted a time of 1:52.33 in the 200 freestyle.
Minnesota State opens its home schedule of Friday, Oct. 12, as it hosts UW-Eau Claire. The dual is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
