Anchorage, Alaska ---  Seventh-rated Minnesota State scored four times in the final period to earn a 5-2 victory at Alaska Anchorage in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game Friday.
 
The Mavericks trailed twice in the game before coming away with the win.
 
The Mavericks outshot the Seawolves 11-6 in the first period, but it was UAA who owned a 1-0 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes of action.  With the Seawolves on a power play, senior center Todd Kozun, stationed at the left side of the net, took a pass from defenseman Jarrett Brown and lifted the puck past junior netminder Jason Pawloski for the first goal of the game at 10:35.
 
It became a 1-1 game at 16:33 of the second period on a play where Minnesota State sophomore forward Parker Tuomie walked in from the blue line and with traffic in front of the net, fired a wrist shot past Olivier Mantha for a power play marker. The goal is the sixth of the year for Tuomie and extends his point-scoring streak to seven games.
 
At 1:27 of the third Nils Rygaard tallied a shorthanded goal that beat Pawloski high on the stickside that allowed the Seawolves to regain a one-goal lead. Freshman forward Jake Jaremko tied it with a shot from the left dot with the Mavericks on the power play at 6:38. The goal, his sixth of the year made it 2-2. Then, sprung by a pass from Marc Michaelis, senior captain C.J. Suess converted on a breakaway chance at 11:35 and his team-high 11th goal of year gave Minnesota State its 1st lead of game at 3-2. Sophomore defenseman Ian Scheid picked up his fifth power play goal of the season on a shot along the ice from far out at 16:34 and an empty-net tally from Suess at the 19-minute mark sealed the win.
 
Michaelis finished with three assists in the contest, while Tuomie accrued three points on a goal and a pair of assists. Junior defenseman Daniel Brickley finished with a two-point night on two assists. Scheid, who drew an assist on Jaremko's goal, also had two points in the contest, while Suess, who has scored eight times in the last five games, is now riding a seven-game point-scoring streak (8-4—12).
 
Minnesota State, which entered the night ranking sixth in the nation in power play percentage, was three-for-seven in the game in power play chances, while UAA converted on one-of-four opportunities with the man advantage. The Mavericks owned a 39-18 advantage in shots on goal in the contest and Palowski stands 6-3-0 on the season with tonight's decision.
 
Minnesota State, which now stands 15-6-0 overall and is 13-4-0 WCHA with tonight's win, has gone 6-1 in its last seven games.
 
The Mavericks and the Seawolves close out the two-game league series Saturday with a 10:07 p.m. CST face-off scheduled.
