Mankato, Minn. --- The Maverick defense did not allow a shot as No. 13 Minnesota State shut out Minnesota Crookston 4-0 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match on Friday afternoon at The Pitch.

Minnesota State's (8-1-0, 6-0-0 NSIC) defense continued its dominant play by not allowing a shot for the entire match against Minnesota Crookston (0-8-0, 0-6-0 NSIC). The Mavericks outshot the Golden Eagles 41-0, including a 19-0 edge in shots on goal. The shutout is the Mavericks' eighth this season and their sixth in a row. With the shutout, Minnesota State is holding its opponents to 0.22 goals per match in 2017.

The offense did the rest to secure the win. Senior midfielder
Jenny Hoerter scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Mavericks in the 17th minute by placing a header just inside the lower-right corner of the net. Junior forward
Julia Zach assisted on the play.

The Mavericks held a 1-0 advantage and an 18-0 lead in shots going into halftime.

In the 61st minute, sophomore forward
Taylor Kenealy netted her first goal of the season off a pass from junior defender
Morgan Seemuth. Just over two minutes later, the Mavericks struck again as junior forward
Lauren Kizlik collected her third goal of the season to increase the Minnesota State lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute. Sophomore forward
Julia Mixon capped off the scoring with an unassisted goal off of a corner kick in the 78th minute – making the final score 4-0.
