Minot, N.D. --- No. 21 Minnesota State baseball swept a road Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader against Minot State on Sunday at Corbett Field. Minnesota State won the first game 13-1 and the second game 5-2.
The Mavericks (24-5, 19-1 NSIC) hit 10 home runs on the day in their sweep of the Beavers (15-11, 10-8 NSIC). Junior center fielder
Josh Wenzel established a school record for most home runs in a game with four homers in game one. Wenzel surpassed the previous mark of three home runs in a game that was achieved by Jon Flattery in 2013. The NCAA DII record for home runs in a single game – set by St. Edward's Josh Hamilton in 2013 – is five. Wenzel also drove in a career-best eight runs. He has now hit eight home runs in 2017, the most he has hit in a single season as a Maverick.
With the doubleheader sweep, the Mavericks won 3 of 4 games in their series with the Beavers.
GAME 1 – No. 21 Minnesota State 13, Minot State 1

Josh Wenzel hit four home runs in his first four at-bats and junior right-hander
Ricky Digrugilliers pitched a seven-inning complete game as the Mavericks defeated Minot State 13-1 in game one.
Wenzel went 4 for 5 with a program-record four home runs in a single game and a career-high eight RBI. He hit two-run homers in both the first and second innings, a solo shot in third and a three-run home run in the fifth.

Luke Waldek both added solo home runs to make the Maverick home run total six for the game.
The offense was more than enough for Digrugilliers (4-0), who held the Beavers to one run on six hits in a seven-inning complete game. He struck out six and walked none.
Left-hander Kendal Daniels (1-3), who started for Minot State, was on the short end of the decision – allowing 13 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked one.
GAME 2 – No. 21 Minnesota State 5, Minot State 2

Aaron Rozek held the Minot State offense in check as Minnesota State won the second game 5-2.

Hunter Walsh hit back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the second inning to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead for the Mavericks.
After the Beavers tied the game in the bottom of the second, the Mavericks scored the final three runs of the game – making the final score 5-2. Dresel hit his second home run of the game – his third of the doubleheader and sixth of the season – in the sixth inning, senior third baseman
Eric Peterson garnered an RBI single in the seventh and sophomore
Tyler Berg hit a solo home run as a pinch hitter in the ninth.
Ahern (2-1) earned the win for the Mavericks by holding the Beavers to two runs – one earned – on six hits over five innings. Ahern struck out three and walked none.
Rozek pitched four shut-out innings in relief to earn his first career save. Rozek held the Beavers to three hits and struck out five batters.
Taking the loss for Minot State, Tanner Alexander (3-2) pitched a complete game – allowing five earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
The Mavericks return to the diamond to face Sioux Falls in an NSIC doubleheader at home on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
