Auburndale, Fla. --- Minnesota State played Ashland evenly before a couple of big innings by the Eagles late in the game led to a 9-2 loss for the 20th-rated Mavericks.

Jordan Hart as Minnesota State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Ashland scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, but the Mavericks responded with a run in the top of the seventh e the game at 2-2 when
Eric Peterson scored on a RBI ground out by Hunter Walsh. The Eagles then put up five runs in the bottom of the seventh and tacked on two more in the bottom of the eighth to salt the game away.
Ulfers had two hits in the game, while Peterson went one-for-two with a run scored and a walk.
Dalton Roach started for the Mavericks and scattered six hits, while fanning nine and allowing one earned run.
Now, 2-2 for the year, Minnesota State plays Ashland again tomorrow with a 3:15 p.m. start time scheduled.
