SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team fell to Augustana 9-0 Saturday evening.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 0-2 on the season, including a 0-1 NSIC record. With the win, Augustana improves to 2-1 on the season, including a 2-0 conference record.
Augustana opened the dual winning all three of the doubles matches. Senior
Melissa Mashburn and sophomore
Erin Streeter fell to Kornel Staniszewska and Berkley Darr in the No. 1 doubles match by the score of 8-2. The duo of senior
Abby Schmidt and freshman
Monika Ryan lost to Meredith Lawrence and Kaitlyn Motley in the No. 3 doubles match by the score of 8-3 as well.
The Vikings finished the dual winning all six of the singles matches to complete the sweep. Ryan was the lone Maverick to go force a third set but she ultimately fell to AU's Christine Olivo in the No. 4 singles match by the scores of 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).
The Mavericks wrap up their weekend on Sunday as they take on the Sioux Falls Cougars. The dual is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
