Bemidji, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's hockey lost 5-0 in its Western Collegiate Hockey Association series finale at Bemidji State on Saturday at Sanford Center.
Minnesota State (3-16-1, 1-11-0-0 WCHA) fell behind 1-0 as Bemidji State (10-10-2, 6-7-1-1 WCHA) scored the only goal of the first period. The Beavers' goal was scored by
Mak Langei at 16:31. Shots on goal were 4-4 in the period.
The Mavericks outshout the Beavers 12-10 in the second period, but were unable to find the equalizer and the score remained 1-0 at the second intermission.
In the third period, Minnesota State was outshot 17-4 and surrendered four goals to make the final score 5-0.
Abby Halluska scored for the Beavers on the power play 10 seconds into the period.
Haley Mack added a short-handed goal at the 6:34 mark, followed by an even-strength goal from
Emma Terres at 11:59 and a power-play goal by
Beebe Paige at 19:08 to conclude the scoring.
Sophomore goaltender
Chloe Crosby (2-5-1) made 26 saves for the Mavericks and
Lauren Bench (5-4-0) stopped 20 shots for the Beavers.
Minnesota State finished 0-of-4 on the power play and allowed a short-handed goal. Bemidji State went 2-of-4 with the man advantage.
The Mavericks were outshot 31-20, including 17-4 in the third period.
Minnesota State returns to the ice for an exhibition game with the South Korea National Team on Jan. 2 at Verizon Center.
