Arlington, Va. --- Minnesota State women's hockey lost 5-2 in a nonconference game against Boston University as part of the D1 in D.C., event on Friday afternoon at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
 
Minnesota State (2-12-1) fell behind 1-0 when Boston University's (5-6-2) Victoria Bach scored her first of two goals in the first period at 6:43. The Mavericks responded on a goal from sophomore forward Jordan Jackson – her third of the season – at 7:42 of the first. Jackson's goal, which was scored from the point, was assisted by junior forward Corbin Boyd and senior forward Lindsey Coleman. The tie would not last as Bach scored her second goal of the period at 8:02 – making the score 2-1 in favor of BU.
 
In the second period, Minnesota State was outscored 3-1 to make the score 5-2 after two periods played. Nina Rodgers scored the first two goals of the period for BU at 3:49 and 5:36, respectively, to give the Terriers a 4-1 lead. Rodgers' first goal came on the power play. Boyd cut the lead in half by scoring her third of the season, a power-play marker, at the 13-minute mark – assisted by freshman forward Brittyn Fleming and junior defenseman Megan Hinze. Bach recorded a hat trick for BU with the final goal of the period at 19:47.
 
Shots were 11-11 in the third period, but neither team scored as the game ended with the score 5-2 in favor of BU.
 
Junior goaltender Katie Bidulka (1-9-0) made 27 saves for the Mavericks, while Corrinne Schroeder (5-1-2) stopped 29 shots for the Terriers. 
 
BU held a 32-31 edge in shots on goal.
 
Both teams were 1-of-5 on the power play.
 
Minnesota State returns to the ice to face Northeastern at 3:00 p.m. CST on Saturday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
