MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team won a total of 11 events Friday evening as it bested Augustana at home by the score 140-115.
MSU now owns a 2-1 record in dual action this season. With the loss, AU falls to 0-1 in dual competition.
The trio of senior
Chelsea Calhoon, sophomore
Maggie Knier and freshman
Lily Borgenheimer each won multiple events against the Vikings. Calhoon won three events including the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.63), the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.00) and the 200-yard IM (2:11.08). Knier finished the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 24.33 and 54.15, respectively, while Borgenheimer won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.42 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.77.
Seniors
Taylor Bass,
Kylie Gaeth and
Cecilia Hake each won an individual event. Bass turned in a time of 2:14.08 in the 200-yard butterfly event, while Gaeth posted a time of 59.27 in the 100-yard butterfly. Hake notched a time of 59.25 to win the 100-yard backstroke as well.
The quartet of Hake, Borgenheimer, Bass and Knier also placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:47.27.
The diving results did not go towards the final score of the dual. Junior
Hannah Guy posted a score of 245.70 in the 1-meter diving event, while freshman
Amanda Hernesman finished the 3-meter diving event with a score of 256.05.
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, as they take on Gustavus Adolphus and UW-Stevens Points at 1:00 p.m. MSU will host the diving events, while GAC hosts the swimming events in St. Peter, Minn.
