Quade Records 2,000th Career Save in Minnesota State’s Loss to No. 1 Wisconsin on Saturday

Antony Scores Team-Leading Seventh Goal

Madison, Wis. --- Senior goaltender Brianna Quade recorded her 2,000th career save, but Minnesota State women's hockey lost its series finale with No. 1 Wisconsin 6-1 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game on Saturday afternoon at LaBahn Arena.

Quade, who entered the game in relief of sophomore goaltender Katie Bidulka (3-6-1) for Minnesota State (6-20-3, 3-17-2-0 WCHA), made 18 saves in 40:00 of play to become the fifth netminder in program history to eclipse 2,000 career saves. After today's game, Quade has 2,015 career saves in 70 games played. The other Mavericks, who have reached the 2,000-save plateau, are Danielle Butters (2,632), Alli Altmann (2,750), Britni Kehler (3,156) and current Minnesota State women's hockey assistant coach Shari Dickerman (Vogt) (3,590) – the all-time Maverick save leader.

Minnesota State's lone goal was scored on the power play by sophomore forward Emily Antony (7-7--14), who leads the Mavericks in both goals and points, at 19:03 of the first period. Sophomore forward Corbin Boyd (2-10--12) – the team leader in assists – fired a pass across the front of the net to Antony, who one-timed a shot into the net before Wisconsin's (24-2-1, 19-2-1-1 WCHA) senior goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens (20-1-1), who made 14 saves in the game, could cover the open side of the net.

However, the Mavericks were unable to score again and the Badgers, who lead the nation in goals scored per game (4.07), scored six goals, including two on the power play. The Badgers scored three goals in the first period, two in the second, and one in the third. The Badger goals were scored by six different student-athletes and Wisconsin was led in points by sophomore forward Sam Cogan (8-13--21), who garnered three assists for three points.

Minnesota State takes the ice for its final home series of the season against No. 4 Minnesota on Friday and Saturday at Verizon Wireless Center.
