HUMACAO, Puerto Rico --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team ran into a tough opponent Tuesday afternoon as the East Carolina Pirates swept the Mavericks 9-0.
With the loss, MSU falls to 6-5 on the season, while ECU improves to 11-4.
ECU began the dual sweeping all three of the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. The team of sophomore
Lisa Dobbelaere and junior
Abby Schmidt fell to Meredith Smith and Betsy Zurawel in the No. 3 doubles match by the score 6-3.
The Pirates completed the sweep winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Freshman
Erin Streeter fell to Michelle Castro 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match, while junior
Melissa Mashburn dropped the No. 1 singles match to Nicole LaDuca by the scores of 6-2, 6-2.
The Mavericks wrap up their spring break trip on Wednesday as they take on Sacred Heart at 11:00 a.m.
