Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team dropped a 3-0 home decision to #1 Wisconsin in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest played in Mankato on Friday.
Wisconsin jumped out to a 1-0 first period lead when Jenny Ryan's shot from the point found the back of the net at 5:36 with the Badgers on the power play.
Wisconsin extended its lead with a pair of second period markers. Forward Sarah Nurse got her ninth of the season at 4:11 and Sophia Shaver tallied her third at 5:48.
The two teams battled through a scoreless final period as the Badgers held on for the 3-0 road victory.

Brianna Quade, who took the loss and now stands 1-5-1 on the season, finished the contest with 34 stops. Ann-Renee Desbiens, totaled 14 saves in the UW net in recording the shut-out, upped her record to 8-0-1 on the season. Wisconsin connected on one-of-three power play chances, while the Mavericks were held scoreless in three opportunities with the man advantage.
Minnesota State (2-6-1, 0-6-1-0 WCHA) and Wisconsin (8-0-1, 6-0-1-1 WCHA) close out the two-game league series tomorrow with a 2:07 p.m. face-off scheduled at Verizon Wireless Center in downtown Mankato.
