                    Box Score      Mankato,  Minn.  ---    Ohio State never trailed in skating to an 8-3 road victory over Minnesota State in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action Saturday in Mankato.
The visiting Buckeyes jumped out to a 2-0 lead when they scored a pair of goals 21 seconds apart in the first period. 
Claudia Kepler's shot bounced past Maverick junior netminder 
Brianna Quade at the 5:24 mark and on the ensuing face-off, 
Katie Matheny snapped a shot from the middle of the slot that found the back of the net. 
Minnesota State responded with a pair of goals before of the end of the period to knot things up.
Freshman 
Emily Antony wired a shot from the left dot that beat Buckeye's netminder 
Alex LaMere high on the stickside for her fourth goal of the season.  It became a tie game at the 17:38 mark after senior forward 
Katie Johnson beat a defenseman on a nice individual effort before backhanding the puck into the net for her fourth goal of the season.
Ohio State surged to a 5-3 lead after two periods of play on goals from Matheny, Kepler and 
Julia McKinnon. Antony connected for her second of the game at the 12:29 mark on a nice breakaway move to keep the Mavericks within two goals.
Katie Bidulka replaced Quade in the Minnesota State net for the start of the third period, but the sophomore from Oakville, Ont., suffered much of the same fate as her predecessor with McKinnon tallying at 5:13, 
Kendall Curtis at 8:42 and 
Melani Moylan at 18:05.
Ohio State outshot the Mavericks by a 28-21 margin in the contest. Quade and Bidulka combined to make 21 saves for Minnesota State in the loss. Antony, who had a goal and an assist in Friday's game vs. the Buckeyes, finished the weekend with three goals and two assists for five points.
Minnesota State, which stands 3-20-3 overall and owns a 0-18-2 WCHA mark, is at North Dakota next Friday and Saturday for a pair of WCHA games in its next action.
