BEMIDJI, Minn. --- The seventh-rated Minnesota State baseball team followed up yesterday's 51 runs with another 37 runs today as they swept Bemidji State by scores of 14-4 and 23-1 in Bemidji.
The Mavericks had 39 hits including 10 home runs and committed just one error in the field in the doubleheader. With the win's, MSU improves to 23-4 and 13-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The Mavericks took a 2-0 lead after the second inning in the first game when redshirt freshmen 
Josh Wenzel and 
Luke Waldek each hit RBI singles. In the fourth inning the Mavericks rallied for nine runs on six hits highlighted by a bases-clearing triple by redshirt freshman 
Dylan Dresel and a home run by Waldek.
The Beavers added one run in the fourth and three in the fifth but a two-run home run by senior 
Nolan Johnson and a solo four-bagger by junior 
Taylor Branstad got a few runs back as MSU won game one by a final of 14-4.
Branstad finished 3-5 with two RBI and three runs scored at the plate. Wenzel, Waldek, Dresel and senior 
Kevin Kramer each finished with two hits a piece.
Freshman southpaw 
Brody Rodning pitched all seven innings allowing four earned runs and nine hits while striking out four and walking just two.
In game two Waldek got the scoring started with a two-run double in the second inning to put MSU up 2-0. Senior 
Max Waletich made it 4-0 in the fourth with his fifth home run of the weekend and first of the game. Waldek doubled again in the fourth inning scoring two and later scored himself to increase the lead to 7-0.
The Beavers scored their only run off a sacrifice fly in the fourth, but the Mavericks offense was just getting started.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Purple and Gold scored 14 runs off 13 hits including six home runs to go up by a score of 21-1. Senior 
Connor McCallum hit the first home run of the inning, a three-run shot, to start off the scoring. Waletich hit a two-run home run and a solo shot in the inning while Waldek hit a grand slam. Kramer and sophomore 
Hunter Harnisch each got in on the home run action as well.
The Mavericks added two more runs in the seventh to win by a final of 23-1. Waletich finished 4-6 with three home runs and five RBI while Waldek went 3-5 with a grand slam and seven RBI.
Freshman 
Dalton Roach (3-1) picked up the win after pitching six innings and allowing just six hits and one earned run.
Minnesota State will start an eight-game home stand beginning with a twinbill against Upper Iowa University on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m. at the MSU Baseball Complex.
