ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team could not make it three straight victories Saturday evening as MSU Moorhead topped the Mavericks 6-3.
The Dragons improved to 4-2 on the season, while MSU's overall and conference record fell to 4-3.
The Dragons began the day winning all three of the doubles matches. Freshman
Killian Doran and junior
Sarah McCann lost to Jessany Jones and Ashley Wood in the No. 1 singles match by the score of 9-7, while the team of sophomore
Melissa Mashburn and freshman
Destiny Lee lost the No. 2 doubles match to Rebecca Lukes and Andrea Rognlien 8-6.
The Mavericks finished the dual winning three of the six singles matches as the Dragons won the dual by the score of 6-3.
McCann defeated Morgan Smith 6-3, 0-6, 10-5 in the No. 3 singles match, while Lee defeated Wood 6-3, 6-3 in the fourth singles match. Freshman
Lisa Dobbelaere won the No. 5 singles match against Cassie Smith by the scores of 6-1, 6-3.
The Mavericks continue their season on the road as they travel to Tampa, Fla., for their spring break trip. MSU will take on the University of Tampa on Sunday, March 8, at 11 a.m.
