Grand Forks, N.D. --- Minnesota State and No. 7/8 North Dakota battled back and forth all afternoon but UND came out on top by a final of 2-0 Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Senior
Erin Krichiver made 16 saves in the first period to keep UND off the scoreboard as the Mavericks were outshot 16-4 in the opening period.
North Dakota broke through at 3:50 of the middle frame as Marissa Salo sniped one passed the glove of Krichiver to give UND a 1-0 lead.
In the final period, the Mavericks looked to make one last final push. MSU pulled Krichiver for an extra attacker but were unable to score as Josefine Jakobsen scored on an empty net to seal the win for UND.
Krichiver tallied a total of 36 saves for MSU. Senior

Elin Johansson and
Nicole Schammel each tallied two.
Minnesota State (3-30-1, 1-26-1 WCHA) will now prepare for the first round of the WCHA playoffs. The Mavericks will face Minnesota next weekend at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis in a best of three series. Game one of the series will be on Friday night with a 7:07 p.m. face off.
