MANKATO, Minn. --- The Mavericks were unable to get one past Bemidji State netminder Brittni Mowatt as Minnesota State fell to the Beavers 4-0 friday night at All Seasons Arena.
Minnesota State's record falls to 3-26-1 overall and 1-22-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play while the Beavers improve to 17-13-1 and 12-12-1 in the WCHA.
In the first period the Beavers scored the only goal at 7:07 as Kristin Huber was able to tally her sixth goal of the season. Senior
Erin Krichiver made a total of 18 saves as BSU outshot MSU 19-6 in the opening stanza.
Bemidji State took a 2-0 lead at 9:18 of the second period, scoring on a four on four after both BSU's Lauren Miller and redshirt freshman
Sara Bustad each were sent to the box for cross checking. Kaitlyn Tougas was able to tip one in from the right side for her tenth goal of the year.
Tougas struck again in the third with her second goal of the game to give BSU a 3-0 advantage at the 8:31 mark. At 16:48 the Beavers scored on the power play to win by a final of 4-0.
Krichiver racked 53 saves in the loss as the Beavers outshot the Mavericks 57-26. MSU went 0-3 on the power play while BSU tallied one power play goal on three opportunities.
Minnesota State and Bemidji State will square off tomorrow afternoon as the Mavericks honor their senior's before the game. The opening faceoff is slated for 3:07 p.m.
