Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team was defeated by the No. 6 Bemidji State Beavers by a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
The first period of the game started out just like the matchup the previous day with BSU scoring early and not facing a deficit the rest of the way. At 2:39, Kaitlyn Tougas tallied her second goal of the year on the power-play to put the Beavers up 1-0. Five minutes later, Minnesota State answered with defensman, freshman L

Jordan McLaughlin (Grand Rapids, Minn.) assisting on the play. Then, at 17:34, BSU tagged another goal to finish out the period at 2-1. Hannah Moher struck for her fifth goal of the season with Emma Terres and Kristin Huber picking up helpers on the play.
The second period just saw one goal, the final goal of the game. The Beavers iced the game at 14:44 of the second frame on the power play as Tougas netted her second goal of the game. The Mavericks outshot the Beavers by a clip of 13-4 in the second period and Maverick goaltender, junior
Brianna Quade (Newcastle, Ont.) accumulating 12 saves through the first two frames.
As the final whistle blew, the Beavers had edged the Mavericks in shots 32-25 and on the power-play going 2-4. Minnesota State did not capitalize on either of their extra-attacking opportunities.
Quade finished the game with 29 saves on the day and moved her record to 2-12-1 on the year.
Minnesota State, now 2-13-1 (0-12-0 WCHA) on the season, will return home next weekend to host the No. 3 Minnesota Gophers on Friday and Saturday in Mankato. Both games are slated for a 2:07 p.m. start at Verizon Wireless Center.
