MANKATO, Minn. --- Senior
Erin Krichiver made 50 saves on the night but Wisconsin's Ann-Renee Desbiens would not allow Minnesota State to get one past her as the third-rated Badgers defeated the Mavericks 3-0 Friday night at All Seasons Arena.
Minnesota State's record falls to 2-22-1 overall and 0-18-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play while Wisconsin improves to 20-4-3 and 15-4-2 in the WCHA.
The first period remained scoreless until Emily Clark tallied her seventh goal of the year on the power play to give the Badgers a 1-0 lead after the opening period.
The two teams skated to a scoreless second period but it wasn't long into the third period that Wisconsin scored again as Clark wrangled up her second of the game off a shot from the right circle. It was at the 7:11 mark of the final period that Wisconsin put the game out of reach with Annie Pankowski's goal from out in front.
The Badgers outshot the Mavericks 53-13 on the night and went 1-3 on the power play compared to MSU who went 0-1 with the extra skater advantage.
Minnesota State and Wisconsin will be back in action again tomorrow afternoon at All Seasons Arena in another WCHA tilt. The opening face off is slated for 3:07 p.m.
